JEWELRY BOX: MEGAN

most girls walk into their friends' apartments and check out their closets to scope out what they want to borrow, cause really, there's nothing better than having multiple closets to shop from.  one problem i do have with going through my friends' closets is that i'm really short. like reeeealllyyy short. 5'0'' short. aka all of my friends' jeans are too long on me and my feet are like 2 sizes smaller. but do you know what doesn't change size?? yup, you guessed it!! i would now like to introduce a little installment called JEWELRY BOX to give you a glimpse of the amazing things my inspiring and fashionable friends and family hold in their own collections. i hope they inspire you as much as they inspire me <3

this is megan. isn't she so badass cause she's wearing ray-bans? not only are her sunglasses terrifying, so are her overalls. but that's another story for another time. megan has a great jewelry collection. and i can say this because i have contributed a few birthday gifts to it (which will be pointed out shortly cause they're awesome). her pieces are colorful and fun, playful yet sophisticated.

what i love about megan's jewelry box is how organized it is. you can see pretty much everything she owns in these pictures, which is often really hard because people tend to throw things all over the place and their jewelry gets tangled and ruined. i can't even tell you how many necklaces i've tangled out of pure laziness. but it takes even more energy (and safety pins) to get those suckers out. moral of the story: keep your things neat and organized, but more on this later. also, sidenote--doesn't everything look better instagrammed?

MY OBSESSION WITH JCREW

this is a recent development circa jenna lyons' complete revamp of the brand. the website is one of my topsites, and it fills at least half of my closet. but more than their clothes I FRICKIN LOVE THEIR JEWELRY. i can't get enough of it. why do i l-o-l-o-l-o-v-e their jewels you ask?  they're tough, yet feminine. they're colorful. they're shiiinnyyyy. okay i'm starting to salivate a little, and yeah, i know that's not normal. here are my favorite items that i own:

i love these because they literally go with any outfit. i wore the one on the far left as a bridesmaid in my best friend's black tie wedding, and i wear it with tshirts all the time. i've gotten more than my money's worth. i also mix and match the bracelets alot with colorful things, which is fun and easy. for those of us on a budget, alot of their jewelry isn't crazy expensive, but a great thing about J.CREW is their sales.  check them out every 2-3 weeks, and you'll see what i mean. they are not something to swat at.

since i am pretty much on their website weekly, i was so excited to find that their collaboration with eddie borgo is up and running! (don't worry it's also in stores) but it is incredddiibblleee. rationale:

I.MEAN.COME.ON. leather, studs, pearls, goooooold. i just--it's--i mean---amazing. i want it all, but especially these beauties. if you still feel like you want to get me a graduation present, i'll take one of each thank youu. just kidding. not.

HELLO WORLD

well, these days everyone seems to be making a blog. so as a currently unemployed, bored as hell, recent master's degree recipient i thought i'd jump on the bandwagon and start one of my own while waiting to start my CFY (speech-thing).  if you don't know me i'm sure you're asking yourself, "why the heck are you choosing to write about jewelry?" and if you do know me, i'm sure you're thinking "you would." but back to those of you who don't know me, who may be coming across this blog via stumbleupon or google or a forwarded email from your mom that you usually ignore but decided to open just this once because you finally felt bad, this is why i decided to write about jewelry:

i love to shop. more than average, i'm pretty sure. but the thing i like to buy the most is jewelry. i could go on and on about how a piece gives that extra sparkle to an outfit bullshit, but i won't. because if you're reading this blog, you probably already know that. i like it because it's pretty; because it's sometimes handcrafted and most of the time it's unique. i like it because it never stops fitting you, no matter how much you hate eating salad and avoid ordering it at any opportunity. but i especially like it because it is something that is important to my entire family, and is something that i have grown up loving.  my grandfather was a watchmaker, and my mom is a gemologist, so both sides passed on the jewelry gene, and i think at some points their wallets regret it. but onto more important things!

with this bloggity blog, my aim is to show you my personal taste, as well as that of my family, friends, and maybe even random strangers if they have something so f-ing cool that i can't not say something to them.
